Supremos call for review of Thomas Cup Finals schedule

GIVE us a day;s break after the group stage, please.

Several badminton supremos, including Japan’s head coach Park Joo-bong and All-Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) international relations manager Bambang Rudy Roedyanto hope that Badminton World Federation (BWF) will review the schedule for Thomas-Uber Cup Finals.

The Thomas Cup Finals group ties which involved Malaysia versus Japan and Denmark versus China went on until 2am. Less that 24 hours later, Japan had to face a fresh Taiwan in the last eight battle, which they eventually won 3-2.

“The players, officials and everyone are tired as there are not enough rest time. It will be good to have a one day break after the group stage,” said Joo-bong.

Rudy echoed his sentiment.

“The tournament may have to start early. I understand that there will be additional cost to it but I hope BWF will consider.

“Players will be fresh and we will see a better quality tournament from the quarter-final onwards,” said Rudy.
