PETALING JAYA: Goh Giap Chin is the undisputed men’s singles champion of the Mauritius International badminton tournament.
Giap Chin, who competes under the New Vision Badminton Academy banner, first triumphed in 2017 and defended his crown last year.
On Sunday, the 26-year-old easily downed Switzerland’s Christian Kirchmayr 21-17, 21-17 to complete a glorious three-peat.
Boon Xin Yuan-Yap Qar Siong and sisters Kasturi and Venosha Radhakrishnan also made Serdang BC’s investment in flying them all the way to the African nation 5,500km away worthwhile by emerging victorious in the men’s and women’s doubles.
Xin Yuan-Qar Siong beat Egypt’s Adham Hatem Elgamal-Ahmed Salah 21-16, 21-18 to claim the first title of their career.
Kasturi-Venosha of Shuttle Warriors Badminton Academy also bagged their maiden international success when they got the better of second seeds Aureli Marie Elisa Allett-Kobita Dookhee of Mauritius 21-14, 21-14.
Meanwhile in Madrid, former international Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin failed to get past the semi-finals of the Spain International on Saturday.
His gallant run was ended by the reigning world junior champion Kunlavut Vitidsarm of Thailand 19-21, 14-21.
