Supanat – the Thai coach with the Midas touch


THAILAND’S sprinting guru Supanat Ariyamongkol has produced a string of Asian class runners for the last 48 years and his secret is simple – go to the ground and spot them early.

Supanat, himself an Asian Games gold medallist in the 4x100m relay in Bangkok 1970, said the talent scouting must be done by the coach himself by way of travelling the country for competitions ranging from school to national junior levels.
