SEA Games: Archer Juwaidi qualifies for men's compound final

BANGKOK: Malaysian compound archer Juwaidi Mazuki marched into the men’s compound final at the SEA Games after a composed run through the elimination rounds at the Thailand Sports Authority Hockey Field here on Monday (Dec 15).

The 35-year-old received a bye in the round of 16 before being tested in the quarter-finals by teammate Aiman Syafiq in an all-Malaysian duel.

Juwaidi held his nerve to win the contest on countback after both archers were locked at 147-147, winning with a superior 10+ score.

Juwaidi then produced his most convincing performance of the day in the semi-final, brushing aside Indonesia’s Rinaldi Sostar 145–142.

The victory sealed Juwaidi’s place in the men’s compound final, scheduled for Thursday (Dec 18). He will take on one of the Thai duo of Kohkaew Sipakorn or Pattanapongkiat Peerawat.
