Juwaidi Mazuki and Co win the men's team compound archery gold at the Thailand SEA Games.

BANGKOK: Reliable archer Juwaidi Mazuki led Malaysia the men’s compound team to their first SEA Games gold in Thailand on Thursday (Dec 18).

The 35-year-old Juwaidi and Co beat Thailand 232-228 in the final at the Thailand Sports Authority Archery Range.

The others in the Malaysian team are Mohd Syafiq Md Arifin, Mohd Aiman Syafiq Tariki and Alang Ariff Aqil Mohd Ghazali.

Thailand's quartet were represented by Sirapop Chainak, Sippakorn Kohkaew, Peerapat Pattanapongkiat and Ratandanai Wongtana.

It was Juwaidi's eighth SEA Games gold medal but he failed to add another in the individual event.

He lost 145-147 to Peerapat in the final.

He already has an enviable SEA Games collection of seven golds, three silvers and one bronze since 2013 and he has a chance to add one more in the individual event next.

In the women’s individual compound bronze medal playoff, Ng Sui Kim won her match against the Philippines’ Amaya Cojuangco 139-134.
