THE catastrophic floods and landslides in Nepal show the increasing incidence of natural disasters brought about by environmental degradation, development and climate change.

According to a Reuters report dated Sept 4, 1,250 people have been confirmed dead and more than 4,200 are ​still missing. Tens of thousands more have been displaced.
