DAP owes Malaysians its own answer on Bumiputera privileges and gambling, before lecturing MCA

Following the Federal Court's ruling which dismissed the Kedah state government's application seeking leave to appeal against the Court of Appeal’s ruling that had quashed its decision to cease the issuance and renewal of business licences for pool betting operators in the state; coupled with Kampar MP Chong Zhemin's challenge that MCA and MIC must state their position on PAS's stand on gambling - MCA Kuantan puts the question back to Chong Zhemin and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke directly, not to MCA, Umno or PAS as proxies.

DAP now treats PAS's gambling stance as disqualifying enough to demand answers from other parties. Fair enough, as a position. But DAP partnered with PAS for years within Pakatan Rakyat, fully aware of PAS' Islamic policy agenda, including its opposition to gambling. DAP's own 2012 National Congress report urged its members to look past those differences and focus on the "common agenda" with PAS and PKR. And in January 2021, PAS Youth publicly invited DAP to jointly fight gambling, crediting DAP's Liew Chin Tong by name for raising the issue in the Dewan Negara weeks earlier. Neither of those episodes produced the kind of confrontation DAP is now demanding of MCA and Umno.
