THE concerns raised in “Beggars growing more assertive” and “Systemic shifts needed to solve street begging” (The Star, April 25) should not be viewed in isolation.
While both articles focus on street begging, their insights apply just as strongly to another growing urban issue – illegal vendors operating at traffic light intersections. What might seem like harmless roadside selling has increasingly become a dangerous, disruptive and normalised problem.
