Time to rethink pursuit of university rankings 


THE controversy over outstanding STPM students being denied entry into Universiti Malaya via the UPU system has sparked debate on the commodification of university places.

In a YouTube video on Sept 10 (https://tinyurl.com/yankk786), UM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman said the university must raise its internationalisation score to improve its ranking among universities worldwide. (UM currently ranks 58th in the QS World University Rankings.)
