White paper needed on separation of legal roles

PROJECT Stability and Accountability for Malaysia (Projek Sama) urges the government to table a white paper on the separation of the roles of the Attorney General (AG) and Public Prosecutor (PP) ahead of the tabling of the required constitutional and legal Bills in Parliament.

The AG-PP separation would be one of the most defining institutional reforms under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Madani government if it is carried out effectively to result in prosecutorial independence and professionalism.
