MACC probe confirms MCA Youth’s concerns over MyKiosk issue

MCA Youth welcomes and fully supports the announcement by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to initiate an investigation into alleged misappropriation and corruption linked to the MyKiosk project under the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

This development affirms the legitimacy of the official report lodged by MCA Youth and MCA Beliawanis with the MACC on May 21, 2025. It highlights that the concerns raised deserve serious and immediate attention from the authorities.

The launch of this investigation stands as clear and compelling validation that the issues highlighted by MCA Youth and MCA Beliawanis were both credible and well-substantiated. The report we submitted presents a strong basis for thorough scrutiny of the project.

MCA Youth places its full trust in the MACC to carry out this investigation with transparency, diligence, and independence—free from political interference or bias.

The MyKiosk project involves an allocation of RM250mil in public funds—an undeniably substantial amount. Any mismanagement or misconduct uncovered must be met with full accountability, and those responsible must face legal consequences.

Furthermore, there are pressing concerns beyond corruption. A large number of kiosks remain empty and unused, running counter to the project’s intended objectives. This outcome reflects poor planning and resource wastage — both of which are unacceptable in the use of public funds.

In light of this, MCA Youth urges the National Audit Department to conduct a comprehensive investigation and forensic audit of the entire MyKiosk project. Full transparency and a proper assessment of the project’s effectiveness are critical to restoring public confidence.

Additionally, the public deserves answers as to why each kiosk unit cost the government between RM25,000 and RM34,000, while the market price is estimated to be only around RM12,800. Clear justification is needed to uphold accountability and maintain trust in the administration’s financial integrity.

Lastly, MCA Youth calls on the Housing and Local Government Minister, YB Nga Kor Ming, to issue a public apology to all Malaysians. His directive to the Local Government Department (JKT) to monitor social media users, including TikTok users, who are allegedly spreading “false news” and “slander” regarding the MyKiosk project, is unjustified. Such actions infringe upon democratic freedoms and contradict the Madani Government’s commitment to open discourse and freedom of expression.
