Plea to stop destruction of forests

TWO days ago, my husband and I saw a distressing sight during our routine commute from Shah Alam to Putrajaya. Lying on the emergency lane just past Exit 613B of the Putrajaya Expressway was the small broken body of a baby monkey. Barely 10m ahead lay its mother, also mangled and still. Both had been struck down by speeding vehicles.

This heart-wrenching tragedy is not an isolated event. It is emblematic of the silent but violent war waged daily against Malaysia’s once-verdant wilderness.
