Exposing the face of uneven development

I REFER to the report “Student flies in to sit for STPM” (The Star, Feb 10). The student, Syafinaz Deng, from the interior Ulu Baram, Sarawak, was unable to return to her boarding school in Marudi as the only road linking her village to the town had collapsed. In normal circumstances, the trip back would have entailed a tedious journey of eight hours.

Luckily, the pilot of a Hornbills Skyway helicopter that was delivering food to her village that day gave her a “lift” back to the boarding school.
