Efforts to eradicate poverty must be intensified

Help at hand: Johor women, family, and community development committee chairman Khairin-Nisa Ismail (centre) at an event to hand over Bantuan Kasih Johor in Serom, Muar recently. The Johor state government’s efforts to eradicate hardcore poverty should be emulated nationwide.

ACCORDING to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida), Malaysia approved RM254.7bil worth of investments for the first nine months of 2024, marking a steady 10.7% increase from the previous year.

With these billions of ringgit worth of investments as well as improvement of the nation’s economy and the ringgit’s value in the past year, surely the Federal Government can allocate more funds to help the poor.
