Futile to oppose rate hikes


I AM writing in reference to the report “Only few turn up for assessment hearings” (The Star, Nov 9).

As far as house or property owners are concerned, the tax objection hearing sessions organised by Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) to get feedback from the public on the proposed hike in assessment rates from January next year are just a waste of time, and a hassle as well because people would have to take a day off from work to attend.
