FOR all its shortcomings, I can say our public transport system, in particular the light rapid transport (LRT) and mass rapid transport (MRT), is much better compared to those in cities like London and Stockholm. In both cities, you don’t find wash rooms at the underground stations.

Empirical studies have revealed that women who use public transport are subjected to various risks, including sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence, verbal harassment, extortion, inappropriate touching (especially in packed trains during peak hours), indecent exposure and rape.
