Drawbacks of hiring of foreign nurses

LIKE many other countries, Malaysia is grappling with a significant shortage of nurses. Currently, there’s a need for about 3,000 additional nurses in the nation’s private hospitals.

To address this issue, the government recently implemented a policy that exempts foreign nurses from post-basic qualifications, as reported in “Private hospitals group lauds exemption of post-basic qualification for foreign nurses” (The Star, Sept 11; bit.ly/pbnurse).
