A small sum for one, a huge amount for another

I RECEIVE cash-on-delivery parcels via Pos Laju once or twice per week. I understand that the customer should have the exact amount to give to the Pos Laju postman, but this is not always possible.

Last week, a parcel costing RM6.75 was delivered. I was not at home but my maid was there and she initially gave the postman RM10, expecting to get back the change. When she didn’t, she grabbed the RM10 as the postman was about to walk away, and handed over RM7. He pocketed the money and left after saying he had no change.
