Insight into status of Bank Negara

BANK Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) recent decision to raise the overnight policy rate (OPR) to 3% has sparked concerns among Malaysians, particularly those who would be affected by the impacts of higher borrowing costs.

Gradual adjustments were made to the OPR in May, July, September and November of 2022, after it was cut to a record low of 1.75% in July 2020.
