Engaging the participation of youth

BEING born into a particular nation is serendipity. Coincidence decides which national identity and possibilities we have in life.

What if, however, we had the choice to consciously choose the nation we wish to call our home?

What if we had the option to match our nationality of birth with a mindset fit for a global citizen?

That is the kind of civic engagement that inspires youth participation.

The term “youth participation” describes how young people can get involved in the systems, procedures and decisions that have an impact on their life.

As the 15th General Election draws near, we should be aware of the crucial role that every voter plays in ensuring the welfare of our future generations. Every vote matters in a democracy.

Let’s all continue to support the democratic process. One way to ensure that the nation continues to be a place worth living in now and in the future is to strengthen its democratic values.

Let’s also make way for the younger generation to be fielded. We deserve to have qualified individuals to safeguard this critical pillar of nation building.
