Pulitzer Prize 2022: Congratulations to Marcus Yam for elevating our nation’s name in the world stage

Today is a historic day in photojournalism as Malaysia celebrates the victory of Kuala Lumpur-born and bred Marcus Yam, who has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for 2022.

MCA congratulates Yam on his Pulitzer Prize win. With his victory, many photojournalists around the world will undoubtedly be inspired to enter the field of journalism and strive for success comparable to Marcus.

Yam was named the 49th Pulitzer Prize winner along with four other journalists for his coverage in Breaking News Photography of the Talibans’ takeover of Kabul, Afghanistan.

He is a well-known and influential photojournalist who currently works for the Los Angeles Times.

Yam's photographs stunned the world. According to the Los Angeles Times, Yam has excellent work ethics, is persistent, and is not afraid to take risks in a dangerous environment in order to present true and factual coverage.

It is hoped that the world will become more sensitive to, and take seriously, the work of Malaysian journalists who have proven to be capable in carving their names in the international arena.

MCA congratulates Marcus Yam once more on his tenacity and risk-taking, which has yielded sweet results and made the country proud.

We hope that all Malaysian journalists will share in Marcus' success and wisely seize every opportunity that comes their way in order to reap success in the future.
