Generational endgame also needed for plastics and fossil fuel vehicles

ON Feb 17, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin reiterated the government’s plan to introduce a new law to ban smoking and the possession of tobacco products, including vape, for people born after 2005 as a generational endgame for smoking in the country. He had previously mentioned the introduction of the law in a special address to staff of his ministry on Jan 13.

Citing tobacco use as the leading cause of cancer, the Health Minister said the new law is aimed at reducing the future generations’ exposure to cigarettes and tobacco products.
