I REFER to the report “Standing Orders being amended to allow live coverage of PAC hearings” (The Star, June 1; online at bit.ly/star_pac).It is heartening to note that newly-appointed Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad has been proactive in liaising with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusoff regarding proposed amendments to the Parliament’s Standing Orders to allow for live coverage of PAC hearings.
Live coverage of such hearings will give the Malaysian public the opportunity to follow the proceedings and have a better understanding of the issues being dealt with.
