Fishing rules abused in Tioman, too

I READ with horror “Tioman kancil in dire straits” (The Star, July 12) about the hunting of mousedeer on Tioman Island as reported by a concerned citizen. Urgent and immediate action needs to be taken to save the mousedeer and prevent cruelty to animals in the name of sport.

On a recent visit to Tioman Island, I also noticed fishing boats and anglers in the vicinity of the marine park. Being a marine park, surely fishing is banned here, but irresponsible people blatantly break the law.
