George Town is not Pulau Pinang

I FAIL to understand why in George Town street signs do not carry the name of the city after the post code.

Others, such as Butterworth, Bayan Lepas, Bukit Mertajam and Gelugor, have no problems with having the names of the towns in their road signs.

Currently, the signs carry the name “P. Pinang”. But the name Pulau Pinang already means the State of Penang and also the name of the island which forms part of the state. So why the need to call George Town “Pulau Pinang”?

Remeber, Unesco granted the world heritage status to “George Town”, not to “Pulau Pinang”. Therefore, George Town should be called George Town after all and the street signs should reflect this.
