THE plantation industry, which employs some 300,000 workers, is a vital cog in Malaysias economic wheel. It has contributed much to the country's wealth and is continuing to do so.
Its shine, however, has been marred by periodic episodes of shameful conditions blighting its workers, especially those supplied by unscrupulous contractors.
