Early enrolment could work if system is ready

THE latest National Education Blueprint (2026-2035) plans to get Malaysian children into Year One by age six instead of the current age of seven in 2027, subject to parental and student readiness.

It sounds like a good plan. The earlier start is in line with starting ages around the world and also closer to home – in Asean, we are the last to adopt this. So, starting at six will align our education system with international standards.
