This was supposedly to be in retaliation against Hamas, which two days earlier had launched a series of attacks in southern Israel that had killed 1,400 while 220 were taken as hostages, according to the Al Jazeera news service.
As of Oct 22, that Israeli operation against Hamas has caused 4,651 Palestinian deaths – 70% of whom were children, women, and the elderly. This is in addition to about 14,200 who were injured.
Is it logical to think that any of those children, women and elderly were responsible for Hamas’ Oct 7 actions?
The children look like any other children. The women look like the “makcik” next door. And the senior citizens look like our parents and grandparents. They are people who would run away from a gun instead of holding one.
Hamas had supposedly killed 1,405, but how is Israel justified in causing more than 4,900 Palestinian deaths – most of whom have nothing to do with Hamas – in return?
Malaysia has repeatedly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and called for an end to the regime’s siege, as well as the resumption of humanitarian aid in the area.
Successive Malaysian governments have also campaigned for an end to the Israeli occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, and for the creation of a viable and independent Palestinian state.
Not only is Israel’s bombing of Gaza, which former Israeli intelligence chief Tamir Pardo has admitted is like an “open-air prison”, the Zionist regime has cut off all food, water and electricity for Gazans.
Gazans are queuing up for hours to get morsels of dry bread to feed their families. Why? Because Israel decided to bomb bakeries, as well as houses, apartments and ambulances. Did they find any Hamas fighters in those buildings?
A viral video showed Gazans looking happy after accidentally finding water bottles lying around on the road. When was the last time you felt extremely happy simply because you found drinkable water?
Gazans cannot switch on a fan when they feel hot or charge their mobile phones to get on social media.
Those who are able to charge their phones are always worried, thinking that this could be the last time.
Imagine going home tonight to have dinner with your family in the dark with only a small hunk of bread and a little water to drink for each member. Forget nasi lemak, roti canai or teh tarik. There is only bread and water.
Imagine talking to your kids tonight in the dark, unable to read them a bedtime story or even see their faces clearly. The only light you’ll get is at sunrise the next day.And if you or a loved one needs to go to the hospital, then you are in worse luck.
The seven hospitals and 25 healthcare centres are almost out of service as they are running out of fuel.
The two million people in this embattled enclave now only have a partially working Cancer Hospital and the Mental Health Hospital.
The suffering of Gazans does not stop when they die. A disturbing viral video showed Israeli settlers urinating on the bodies of dead Palestinians.
On top of that, the Israelis also kicked the bodies repeatedly and laughed about it.
“I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly,” Israel’s Gallant said on Oct 9.
Israel is delivering on every warning it made two weeks ago and yet, many in the West are still defending the illegal regime. Haven’t the last 75 years taught us anything about the Zionists?
If Israel wants to find the real “human animals,” it need only look in the mirror.
