US targets one entity in Venezuela-related sanctions


WASHINGTON, Aug ⁠18 (Reuters) - The United ⁠States has imposed ‌Venezuela-related sanctions on one entity based in the British ​Virgin Islands, according ⁠to a ⁠notice posted on the Treasury ⁠Department ‌website on Tuesday.

The U.S. ⁠targeted Bluwaves Properties Limited, ​an ‌offshore corporate vehicle formerly ⁠owned ​by U.S. energy magnate Harry Sargeant III.

It ⁠held a minority ​stake in North American Blue Energy Partners, Venezuela's ⁠second-largest private oil producer. Sargeant sold Bluwaves for $300 million earlier ​this month.
