KIGALI, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The inaugural flight of SalamAir, Oman's low-cost carrier, arrived at Kigali International Airport from Muscat on Tuesday, marking the start of direct flights between Oman and Rwanda.
On Monday in Muscat, Rwanda's ambassador to Oman Dan Munyuza and SalamAir chief executive officer Adrian Hamilton-Manns launched SalamAir's direct flights between Muscat and Kigali.
"The launch of direct flights between Kigali and Muscat marks an important milestone in strengthening connectivity between Rwanda and the Sultanate of Oman," Munyuza is quoted as saying in the statement released on Monday by SalamAir.
He added that the new route will support the growing movement of travellers, businesses, and goods between the two countries, while creating further opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment.
"The launch of Kigali marks another important milestone in SalamAir's growth journey as we continue expanding our network into high-potential markets that support tourism, business and stronger international connectivity," Hamilton-Manns is quoted as saying in the statement.
He said that Rwanda is a dynamic destination with significant opportunities, and this direct link will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries while supporting Oman's tourism ambitions and the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The new route will operate twice weekly, offering passengers a convenient and affordable travel option between Muscat and Kigali while providing seamless access to SalamAir's growing network across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe, according to the statement.
