Messi breaks World Cup scoring record


DALLAS, United States, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Lionel Messi became the FIFA World Cup's all-time leading scorer with a first-half strike in Argentina's Group J clash with Austria on Monday.

Messi struck his 17th World Cup goal, surpassing the record he shared with Germany's Miroslav Klose.

It came after Messi missed an early penalty at Dallas Stadium.
