Teen critically injured in Hamburg stabbing, 2 arrested


BERLIN, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A 13-year-old teenager was seriously injured in a knife stabbing near a school in Hamburg, Germany, on Monday, local authorities said, adding that police had detained two 15-year-old suspects.

According to preliminary findings, the victim was attacked and suffered multiple stab wounds. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries under the care of an emergency doctor, and his condition remained critical.

The suspects fled the scene after the attack. Police said an extensive search operation involving around two dozen patrol cars, a helicopter, and a specialist support unit led to the provisional arrest of two suspects.

The Hamburg homicide squad has taken over the investigation in coordination with prosecutors. Police said the motive for the attack remains unclear.
