1 student killed in Argentina school shooting


BUENOS AIRES, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A 13-year-old student was killed and eight others were injured in a school shooting Monday in Argentina's Santa Fe province, said local authorities.

The incident occurred at around 7 a.m. local time at a normal school in the city of San Cristobal. A 15-year-old student opened fire with a shotgun, killing the 13-year-old student.

The shooting took place as students were gathering in the schoolyard for a flag-raising ceremony. A school staffer subdued the attacker and seized the weapon, according to local media.

The eight injured are currently out of danger. Authorities in Santa Fe province have launched an investigation into the shooting.
