2 killed in stabbing in London's Southwark


LONDON, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Monday that two men died after a stabbing incident that happened in London's Southwark. The police said a murder investigation has been launched.

According to the police, officers were called to reports that multiple people had been assaulted at a business premises in Long Lane. Both the police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and treated four people for stab wounds.

It was confirmed that a 58-year-old man died at the scene, and a 27-year-old man was taken to the hospital but has since died.

A man in his thirties remains in the hospital for injuries believed to be "not life-threatening or life-changing."

The London Metropolitan Police said another man in his thirties was detained in connection with the incident. He remains in a life-threatening condition in the hospital.

Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing for the area, said the police do not believe the incident to be terrorism-related and there is no further risk to the public.
