2 missing after boat sinks off Indonesia's Batam city

JAKARTA, June 25 (Xinhua) -- A long boat carrying 13 football players sank in waters off Batam City in Indonesia's Riau Islands Province on Wednesday afternoon, leaving two footballers missing, an official said.

Huge waves hit the boat, said Joko Prayitno, a senior official at the provincial search and rescue office.

"Two people remain missing, but 11 others have been rescued by the rescuers," he told Xinhua.
