Olympics | New Zealand's Ko wins women's golf stroke play, China's Lin claims bronze at Paris 2024

PARIS, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Lydia Ko of New Zealand clinched the women's individual stroke play title at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, while China's Lin Xiyu had bronze, tying the country's best Olympic result of women's golf in history.

Ko captured the gold medal with a score of 10 under par after four rounds at Le Golf National, beating Germany's Esther Henseleit, who scored eight under par, to second place.

China's Lin finished third with a total score of seven under par, recording an impressive 19 birdies throughout the competition.

Lin maintained a steady performance in the final round on Saturday, registering two birdies on the front nine. She adopted a more aggressive approach in the final stretch, notching three birdies between holes 15 and 18, despite a bogey on the 17th.

Eight years ago, Feng Shanshan clinched a bronze medal at Rio 2016, the first golf medal for China in Olympic history.
