Britons aboard MV Hondius to isolate in England: media

LONDON, May 9 (Xinhua) -- British passengers and staff aboard the MV Hondius will be taken into isolation at a hospital in Merseyside, northwestern England, British media said on Saturday.

There are currently 22 Britons, including 19 passengers and three crew members, still aboard the cruise ship where a hantavirus outbreak was reported, according to Sky News.

They will be transferred to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral in Merseyside, the report said.

The British Health Security Agency said on Friday that two British nationals have been confirmed to have contracted hantavirus, while a third case was suspected, on the South Atlantic island of Tristan da Cunha.

None of the British citizens aboard the cruise ship is currently reporting symptoms, but they are being closely monitored, the agency said. It added that all British passengers and crew aboard the vessel would be asked to isolate for 45 days upon returning to Britain.
