Shootings in NYC increase 121 pct in October

NEW YORK, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- More shooting cases but fewer other crimes were reported in October in New York City, according to the latest figures issued jointly by the city government and the police.

A total of 137 shootings occurred in New York City this October compared to 62 during the same period last year, a 121 percent rise, according to the city's monthly crime statistics.
