Latvia to develop wastewater monitoring platform for public health surveillance


RIGA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Latvia has raised 15 million euros (about 17.55 million U.S. dollars) to develop a wastewater monitoring platform for public health surveillance, the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Center announced on Friday.

The project aims to establish an integrated platform for monitoring and researching the environment and human health, which can also determine how different environmental factors affect human health, the center said.

The project will be developed by the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre in collaboration with Riga Technical University, the Scientific Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment BIOR, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, and the University of Dundee in Britain, the center added.
