U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, April 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.25 percent to 98.529 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1713 U.S. dollars from 1.1685 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3521 dollars from 1.3468 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 159.44 Japanese yen, lower than 159.74 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.7855 Swiss francs from 0.7862 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3673 Canadian dollars from 1.3701 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost 9.2304 Swedish kronor from 9.2576 Swedish kronor.
