Kyrgyzstan's agricultural production doubles in Q1 2026: official


BISHKEK, April 24 (Xinhua) -- The gross domestic product of agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 47.923 billion soms (approximately 547 million U.S. dollars) in January-March, an increase of 102.8 percent year on year, the country's Kabar news agency reported Friday, citing the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry.

The ministry said that livestock farming constitutes 98 percent of the total volume, followed by crop production at 1.5 percent, agricultural services at 0.3 percent, and fisheries at 0.2 percent.

Compared to the same period in 2025, the country's livestock production grew by 2.8 percent, and crop production grew by 1.2 percent. The cattle population reached 1.8 million head with an annual increase of 1.7 percent. The poultry population reached 8.5 million head, marking an increase of 11.9 percent year on year.

Meat production in the country in the first quarter amounted to 100,300 tonnes with an annual increase of 2 percent, with milk production at 298,900 tonnes with an increase of 2.5 percent, and 201.9 million eggs with an increase of 24.6 percent.
