A VIRAL message is going around claiming that the Melaka state assembly has dissolved and an election will be called soon.
Talk has been rife that dissolution is imminent but the claim took many by surprise.
So will state polls take place in the very near future?

The Melaka Chief Minister's Office denied claims that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh signed the document to dissolve the state assembly in the presence of Melaka Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam on Tuesday (Sept 15).
Its media communications head Norhafizah Sati said the message, which went viral on WhatsApp, was false and urged the public and media not to believe it.
"I have not been informed of any meeting as of today between the Chief Minister and the Melaka Yang di-Pertua Negeri," said Norhafizah in a statement in a media WhatsApp group on Tuesday.
"Any statement will be promptly communicated by the Chief Minister's Office."
"Everything that has gone viral is completely untrue," she said.
Earlier, a message went viral claiming that Ab Rauf had signed the dissolution document with Mohd Ali at 10.30am on Tuesday.
In the previous state election, Barisan Nasional, led by Ab Rauf, formed the state government after winning 21 of the 28 state seats.
Pakatan Harapan won five seats and Perikatan Nasional won two.
The term for the Melaka state assembly expires in December 2026.
