So was a recent data breach involving the National Registration Department's (NRD) systems?
Verdict:

FALSE
The NRD has denied claims on social media recently claiming that their systems were breached.
It said the claims refer to incidents in 2021 and 2022 involving an external agency that had already been dealt with.
It said the external agency had stored the data for service delivery purposes.
"Following the incident, a police report and a report to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) were lodged, while data-sharing mechanisms with external agencies were strengthened and tightened.
"The NRD stresses that there has never been any data leak, suspicious transaction or security compromise involving the NRD core systems.
"NRD's systems continue to operate with a high level of security and are continuously monitored to ensure that personal data is always protected," it said in a Facebook post on Saturday (June 20).
NRD also said it would continue to enhance cybersecurity measures and data governance to safeguard the integrity, confidentiality and security of Malaysians' information.
The statement follows a viral post on Threads alleging a leak of Malaysians' personal data, including that of MPs, and senior Cabuinet members, including the Prime Minister.
