QuickCheck: Is the viral video of an elephant being fed at a petrol station real?

BEING kind to animals is among the most rewarding acts of kindness.

Even if the creature ultimately runs away without showing any gratitude, knowing that the deed, no matter how small, had a positive effect on its life is meaningful.

Recently, a video of an elephant standing in a lorry, asking for and receiving a snack as a treat, went viral on social media.

Is the video real?

Verdict:

TRUE

According to Putrajaya Corporation, the elephant in the clip is one of the two elephants from Kuala Gandah, Pahang.

The elephants travelled over 130km to become the lead attractions at the Putrajaya Open Day 2026, held from Jan 29 to Feb 1.

The original clip is longer and includes footage of the elephants arriving at the event grounds and receiving bananas.

“It's rare to see elephants with the Putrajaya Corporation building in the background,” the corporation said in another social media post, which includes a video of the two elephants taking fruit offered by visitors.
