QuickCheck: Can applications for the STR Bujang 2026 be made via WhatsApp?


A POST has gone viral on social media claiming that eligible unmarried individuals, couples who have lost their spouses or without children and single parents can make applications for the STR (Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah) Bujang 2026 via WhatsApp.

The message also claims that payments for the RM600 cash aid under Sara (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah) can be made through the same messaging service.

Are such claims true?

Verdict:

FALSE

The Finance Ministry has clarified that a viral message claiming STR Bujang 2026 and RM600 Sara assistance is false.

“No applications or payments can be made via WhatsApp,” it said on its official social media platforms on Wednesday (Jan 21).

It also advised the public not to click on suspicious links and urged people to avoid sharing personal information.
