A 20-SECOND video showing four tigers feasting on a cow has been circulating on social media for the past two days.
The footage, which claims to have been captured by a trap camera in the Ulu Kinta area near Tanjung Rambutan, Ipoh, on Jan 16, has gone viral and raised concerns amongst local residents.
But was the video really filmed recently in Tanjung Rambutan?

Residents around Tanjung Rambutan have been urged not to panic over the circulation of a 20-second video on social media claiming the presence of four tigers devouring a cow in the Ulu Kinta area.
Ulu Kuang Village Head Hamdan Ishak said the claim that has been spreading for the past two days is false and has been confirmed by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) as old footage that has been re-edited.
"I deny the claim of a recent video showing four tigers eating a cow in this area. Some say it happened at Changkat Kinding, others say at Ulu Kuang," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Jan 20).
"I met with Perhilitan officers myself and they confirmed the video is fake. The footage is old, from years ago, and the actual incident occurred outside the Tanjung Rambutan area," he said.
Hamdan said the confusion arose when the date displayed in the video showed Jan 16, 2026, making it appear to be a recent incident.
"For outsiders this might seem like a joke, but our community here has orchards and plantations. Many residents earn their living in forest areas," he said.
"The issue of tiger presence like this is certainly frightening and raises concern amongst residents," he added.
He acknowledged that areas around Tanjung Rambutan, including Ulu Kuang, Chemor and Changkat Kinding, are tiger movement zones, but continuous monitoring is always carried out by Perhilitan.
Perhilitan officers also use drones at night to detect the presence of wildlife, and so far no disturbances or tiger appearances have been recorded in the past two months, he said.
"I ask outsiders not to spread any unverified information. Such actions will only cause fear and threats to village residents," he said.
