A VIDEO has gone viral on social media showing a group of people evacuating a building in Kuala Lumpur.

Captions and comments in the video alleged that an explosion had occurred on the premises and that it was a private university located in the capital.

Did an explosion really occur in a Kuala Lumpur private university?

When contacted, the City Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the incident, adding that a full statement on the matter would be released soon.

Earlier, a viral post on RedNote (also known as Xiaohongshu) showed students from the university evacuating the area, with the post also claiming that the explosion came from the university's canteen area.
