Verdict:

TRUE

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda confirmed that the incident occurred on Dec 12, where a policeman arrested two men aged 28 and 22 for allegedly stealing a 56-year-old woman's bag.

He said investigations revealed that the suspects were using a rented car fitted with a GPS tracking system and the location was relayed to the police.

"At about 4.20pm on Dec 12, officers on patrol managed to locate the vehicle," he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 19).

He said the suspects attempted to flee but the car skidded off the road and both men were arrested.

In the video, a police vehicle can be seen pursuing the suspects in a black car.

However, the road is congested with heavy traffic and with little space to maneuver, the suspects desperately try to drive through the road divider and get stuck.

Two policemen get out of their car and run toward the suspects' vehicle.

One of the policemen grabs the driver's side door and pulls at it forcefully. He repeatedly pulls at the door, bending the window frame pillar and folding the door almost in half. The suspects are eventually arrested.

ACP Kasim said the victim's belongings were recovered and both suspects tested positive for drugs.

He added the case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
