QuickCheck: Is the govt offering an additional RM200 in Sara cash aid?


A POST has gone viral on social media claiming that an additional cash aid payment of RM200 under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) programme will be made soon.

The viral post also asks those interested to click on a link provided to get more details such as the date of the payment.

Is there any truth to this?

Verdict:

FALSE

In a post on their official Facebook account, the Finance Ministry said that this news is in fact false.

"Watch out for fake news regarding the revision of distribution of aid for Sara as much as RM200 on social media," the ministry said in its post.

"Make sure you don't click on any links. This is a scammer!" it warned.

It then went on to urge the public to refer only to the ministry's official media channels and the websites for information regarding its programmes.
