QuickCheck: Is it true that the Budi Madani funds will be deposited into Touch‘n Go accounts?


A MESSAGE claiming to be from the Finance Ministry and alleging that funds under the government’s Budi Madani initiative will be credited into Touch‘n Go accounts is making the rounds on social media.

It also claims that the payments began on Monday (Nov 10), and included a link said to allow the public to claim the funds via their Touch'n Go accounts.

Is it true the Finance Ministry has introduced a new distribution mechanism for Budi Madani funds?

In a statement on its official social media channels, the Finance Ministry alerted the public that the message was fake and urged them not to click on the link.

“A message claiming that the Budi Madani payment will be credited to Touch‘n Go accounts is fake.

“Do not click on the link. Do not share any personal information,” the Ministry said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday (Nov 13).

The Ministry also reminded the public to follow its official social media platforms for verified updates and information.
